In short: we collect the minimum data needed to run Sowlif , your account, your profile, your content, and basic usage data. We do not sell your personal data, we do not share your private chats with third parties for marketing, and you can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Sowlif (سولف) is an Arabic social app for meeting new people and building friendships, built on the principle of prior consent. Sowlif is operated by Dardesh, registered in Türkiye ("we", "us", or "Sowlif"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
This policy explains what we collect when you use the Sowlif app on iOS and Android and this website, how we use, share and protect it, and what rights you have. By using Sowlif you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the app.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Account data (Google or Apple sign-in)
Sowlif uses Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. We do not create or store passwords. When you sign in, we receive from your identity provider:
- Email address , to uniquely identify your account and to contact you about your account and security.
- Display name , shown on your profile; you can edit it in the app.
- Profile photo (if available) , visible to other Sowlif users; you can change or remove it.
- A unique provider identifier , so later sign-ins map to the same account.
If you use Apple's Hide My Email feature, we receive a private relay address instead of your real email, and we treat that as your registered address. We do not access your contacts, files, or any other data in your Google or Apple account.
2.2 Profile data
This is data you optionally add inside the app, and may include:
- Gender, date of birth or age range, and country or region.
- A short bio or interests.
- Additional photos you upload to your profile.
- Discover preferences such as country filters.
You decide what appears on your profile. Please avoid putting sensitive details (phone number, home address, financial information) in your bio or photos, since your profile is visible to other users.
2.3 Content and messages
- Statuses: the short posts you publish and the reactions they receive.
- Private messages: text, images and media you exchange with accepted friends.
- Friend requests and Super Likes: requests sent and received, and their state (pending, accepted, declined).
- Reports and blocks: who you report or block, and the reason given.
About your messages: messages are stored on our servers so you can access them across your devices. Chats are not end-to-end encrypted at this time, which means they are technically accessible to us. We do not routinely read private conversations, and we never use them for marketing or sell them. Our staff access them only in limited circumstances: investigating an abuse report, responding to a valid legal request, fixing a critical technical fault, or protecting user safety.
2.4 Usage and device data
- Device model, operating system and version, Sowlif app version, and device language.
- A device or installation identifier, used for security and abuse prevention.
- Crash reports, error logs and performance data.
- Aggregated usage events (for example: opened Discover, sent a friend request) to improve the product.
- IP address and connection timestamps , used for security, to block abusive accounts, and to infer your approximate country.
Location: Sowlif does not collect precise GPS location. The country shown on your profile comes from what you select, or from a coarse inference from your IP address.
2.5 Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token so we can alert you about new requests and messages. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
2.6 Purchase data
When you buy a Sowlif Plus subscription or coins, payment is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive or store your card numbers or banking details. What we do receive is what's needed to activate your purchase: the transaction identifier or purchase receipt, the product purchased, your subscription status and renewal or expiry date, and your coin balance and in-app spending history.
2.7 Cookies and similar technologies
The mobile app does not use advertising cookies. This website (sowlif.dardesh.xyz) is a static informational site that uses simple local storage only to remember your language preference. It does not use tracking cookies.
3. How we use your data
- To run the service: create your account, display your profile, deliver requests, messages and statuses.
- To enforce consent: ensure no chat can open before a friend request is accepted.
- Safety and abuse prevention: review reports, enforce blocks, detect fraudulent, duplicate and spam accounts.
- Purchases: activate Sowlif Plus benefits, manage coin balances, and validate receipts.
- Support: answer your questions and resolve issues you report to us.
- Product improvement: understand which features are used and fix crashes , using aggregated data wherever possible.
- Notifications: tell you about new requests, messages and important account updates.
- Legal compliance: respond to valid legal requests and keep records required by law.
We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it with data brokers, and we do not use the content of your private chats for advertising.
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK users)
- Performance of a contract: operating your account and providing the Sowlif features and purchases you requested.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the platform secure, preventing fraud and abuse, and improving the service.
- Consent: notifications, camera and photo library access, and any other optional processing , you can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: responding to lawful requests and retaining financial and tax records.
5. Sharing your data with third parties
We share the minimum data necessary with service providers who process it on our behalf and under contractual obligations to protect it:
| Provider | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Contabo | Server, database and image hosting | Account, profile and content data |
| Google (sign-in and notifications) | Authentication and push notifications | Account identifier, push token |
| Apple (sign-in and notifications) | Authentication and push notifications | Account identifier, push token |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Payments, subscriptions and receipt validation | Transaction ID and subscription status |
| None | Crash reporting and performance monitoring | Device data and usage events |
We may also disclose your data:
- For legal reasons: in response to a court order or valid official request, or to protect our rights or the safety of our users or the public.
- In a change of ownership: in a merger, acquisition or asset sale , we will notify you, and this policy will continue to apply to your data.
- With your explicit consent: in any other case, where we ask you first.
6. In-app purchases and subscriptions
Sowlif offers a Sowlif Plus subscription (auto-renewing) and coins (one-time purchases). All payments, renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled by the app store , Apple or Google , and are governed by their privacy policies, not this one.
We keep a record of your purchases (product, purchase date, subscription status, coin balance) in order to activate your benefits, prevent fraud, and for accounting purposes. For auto-renewal and cancellation details, see our Terms of Use.
7. What other users can see
It's important to know what is public inside the app and what is private:
- Visible to Sowlif users: your display name, photo, country, bio, published statuses, and approximate online status.
- Visible to accepted friends only: your private chats with them.
- Never shown to any user: your email address, technical account identifiers, device data, and purchase history.
Remember that other users may screenshot content you share. Don't post anything on Sowlif that you wouldn't want others to see.
8. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active, then delete it on the following schedule:
| Data type | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Account and profile data | Until account deletion, then removed within 14 days |
| Messages, statuses and photos | Deleted with the account, within the same period |
| Backups | Purged as part of the backup cycle, within 90 days at most |
| Report and block records | Up to 12 months after deletion, to prevent banned users returning |
| Financial transaction records | As required by accounting and tax law in Türkiye |
Account deletion: you can permanently delete your account from inside the app via Settings → Account → Delete account. On confirmation, your account immediately stops being visible to other users and permanent deletion begins.
Note: messages you sent to another user may remain visible in their copy of the conversation, as with any message they received. Deleting your account also does not cancel your subscription , you must cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. See our support page for step-by-step instructions.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: correct inaccurate data , most of it is editable directly in the app.
- Erasure: request deletion of your account and data.
- Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection and restriction: object to certain processing or ask us to restrict it.
- Withdraw consent: at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Complain: lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@dardesh.xyz from the address linked to your account. We respond within 14 days, and may ask for reasonable proof of identity first to protect your account.
For California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
10. Data security
We apply technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
- Encryption at rest with our hosting provider.
- Staff access to user data restricted on a need-to-know basis.
- Relying on Google and Apple authentication rather than storing passwords.
- Monitoring for suspicious activity and rate limits to prevent abuse.
That said, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authorities as required by applicable law.
11. International data transfers
Your data may be stored and processed on servers located in the European Union and the United States, which may differ from your country of residence. Where we transfer data out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or adequacy decisions where they apply.
12. Children's privacy
Sowlif is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone below that age. If we learn that an account belongs to an underage user, we will delete the account and its data promptly.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created a Sowlif account, email us at support@dardesh.xyz and we will act without delay.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or in legal requirements. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app or by email a reasonable time before it takes effect. Continuing to use Sowlif after a change takes effect means you accept it.
